43 books by American novelists nominated for the 2013 Award

Forty-three books by American authors are among 154 titles on the longlist of books nominated by libraries worldwide for the €100,000 International IMPAC DUBLIN Literary Award, the world’s most valuable annual literary prize for a single work of fiction published in English. Organised by Dublin City Public Libraries, the 2013 Award was launched on 12th November by the Lord Mayor of Dublin, Cllr Naoise Ó Muirí, Patron of the Award, at a ceremony in The Dublin City Library & Archive.

The US titles include:

  • Swamplandia by Karen Russell – Finalist Pulitzer Prize for Fiction 2012
  • Salvage the Bones by Jesmym Ward – 2011 National Book award winner
  • The Sojourn by Andrew Krivak – 2011 National Book award finalist
  • The Tiger’s Wife by Tea Obreht – 2011 National Book award finalist
  • The Buddha in the Attic by Julie Otsuka – 2011 National Book award finalist
  • State of Wonder by Ann Patchett
  • The Paris Wife by Paula McLain

Also nominated were debut novels The Art of Fielding by Chad Harbach and The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern.
